Wilderness Dog Found With Swollen Paw And Deep Wounds Begins His Comeback

Injured Wilderness Dog Fights to Recover After Being Found Alone

Sinbad, a resilient Australian cattle dog–Akbash mix, was discovered injured and alone in a remote wilderness area, four hours from Prince George. A kind stranger spotted him and rushed him to the SPCA’s North Cariboo location for help.

When he arrived, Sinbad was underweight, with a paw swollen to three times its normal size, deep cuts on his face, ears, neck, and a bloody, painful foot. SPCA staff immediately took him to a vet for emergency treatment and began a re-feeding program to help him regain his strength.

Despite his severe injuries, Sinbad’s gentle spirit shines. “He’ll cross the yard just to greet you,” says SPCA’s Kristen Sumner. “Even in pain, he allows us to clean his wounds and give medication — all he wants is head pats and ear scratches.”
