An animal rescue organisation in the Hunter region has been left shaken and heartbroken after a severely injured dog was brought into their care. The young staffy, suffering from grave head wounds, arrived in such a state that carers could barely comprehend what had happened to her.
On closer examination, rescuers suspected the worst — that she may have been shot. The injuries were deep, brutal, and unlike anything caused by an accident. Whoever was responsible had left her to suffer, alone and helpless.
“This is not just neglect; it’s cruelty of the worst kind,” a spokesperson for the rescue said. “Someone out there knows what happened, and we need them to come forward.”
The organisation is now appealing to the public for any information that could lead to justice. They urge anyone who recognises the dog or has knowledge of the incident to contact police immediately.
While her physical wounds are severe, carers are doing everything they can to save her. They say her resilience and gentle nature, even through the pain, is nothing short of remarkable.
“This sweet girl didn’t deserve this,” the spokesperson added. “We want to make sure no other animal suffers at the hands of whoever did this.”
