Five Puppies Found in a Trash Bag — Left to Die
When a Good Samaritan spotted a black trash bag tossed on the side of the road, something told them to stop and check. What they discovered inside left them shaken: five tiny puppies, crammed together, struggling to breathe.
“Someone put them in this bag, they cannot breathe, and throws it next to the road,” said Natasa Voulgaropoulou of Hopeland Dog Sanctuary. “They could have died.”
If the bag had been found just hours later, it might have been too late. Instead, the puppies were rushed to safety at Hopeland, where staff created a cozy, protected space just for them.
For the first few days, the pups stayed in quarantine. Four of them were shy, hiding behind their bed — but one bold little guy, Loui, immediately felt safe and quickly became the leader his siblings needed.
“In the days that followed, I stayed close to them, giving them time so they could slowly start to trust and feel safe,” Voulgaropoulou said.
Now, all five puppies are thriving, soaking up love from staff and volunteers. Though Hopeland is a sanctuary where they can stay as long as needed, the ultimate dream is that each one will soon find a forever home.
