Todd the dog was walking with his owner in the morning when a rattlesnake appeared. He risked his life to rush forward to shield his owner and was bitten in the face by the snake.
Todd is a Golden Retriever and lives with his owner in Arizona, USA. On June 28, his owner, Mrs. Paula Godwin, posted on Facebook about his brave actions.
That morning, Paula was walking near Route 7 in Anthem, Arizona, when she nearly stepped on a rattlesnake.
“I got up early this morning to go for a walk on Route 7. It was a beautiful morning, but as we were going down the hill I almost stepped on a rattlesnake. But my hero dog Todd saved me. He jumped in front of my leg, otherwise I would have definitely been bitten,” Paula wrote.
“Please pray for my sweet hero,” Paula captioned a photo of Todd’s swollen face.
The dog was taken to the Anthem Animal Hospital for treatment. Paula updated that Todd’s health is improving and he is recovering very quickly.
Rattlesnakes are large, venomous snakes found throughout North and South America. They are most common in the southwestern United States and northern Mexico.
Arizona is home to 13 species of snakes, the most unique of which is this rattlesnake.
