Three-Legged Puppy Found Alone in the Jungle Was Barely Hanging On

Earlier this year, the rescue group Happy Doggo in Thailand received a desperate call about a small puppy in serious danger.

The little pup had been living around a construction site deep in the jungle, scrounging for scraps. But when the site managers decided they wanted her gone — “by any means necessary” — rescuers knew they had to act fast.

When the Happy Doggo team arrived, they found the frightened puppy trembling beneath a bush. Every time someone tried to reach for her, she darted away in fear.

“She ran away from us and hid under a metal sheet,” said Niall Harbison, the rescue’s founder, in a video shared with The Dodo.

As the rescuers looked closer, their hearts sank — the puppy was missing one of her back legs. No one knew if she was born that way or had suffered an injury, but it was clear she’d survived a lot on her own.

That only made them more determined to save her.

Finally, they managed to gently lift the terrified pup into their arms. On the drive back to the rescue, she began to settle, leaning into the touch of her new friends as if realizing, maybe for the first time, that she was safe.

“She’s very nervous,” Harbison said softly. “But she likes being held.”

They named her Candy, for her sweet, gentle spirit.

With proper medical care, good food, and endless affection, Candy began to transform. Within weeks, the shy jungle puppy turned into a playful, cuddly little whirlwind — full of love and energy.

“She soon flourished into the most loving and playful dog,” Harbison wrote on Instagram.

Six months later, Candy’s story came full circle. A kind family in Spain adopted her, giving her the life every dog deserves. These days, Candy spends her time racing along beaches and parks — zooming so fast that even her new dog brother, Fletcher, can’t keep up.

“She’s a speed demon,” Harbison laughed. “A turbo rocket!”

And when the day’s adventures are over, Candy curls up on a warm bed beside her family — finally safe, loved, and free. After everything she’s survived, she’s found her forever home … and it’s even sweeter than her name.
