Puppy Rescued from Sewage Drain Gets Fresh Start

A little rescue pup is feeling fresh and clean again after a messy ordeal in a sewage drain.

On September 26, the Huron Police Department in California shared on Facebook that a puppy had fallen into a sewage drain and was unable to climb out. Responding quickly, Commander Fuentes, Sergeant Paul Lopez, and Officer Gonzalez teamed up to save the trapped dog.

Photos posted online show the dramatic rescue — including an officer emerging from the drain, pup in hand, after wrapping his legs in plastic to wade through the sludge. At first, the tiny dog was so caked in thick gray-black muck that it was hard to tell he was even a puppy.

Thankfully, after a thorough bath, all the grime washed away, revealing an adorable, exhausted pup who quickly settled in for a well-deserved nap.

The Huron Police Department celebrated the happy ending, sharing, “Thanks to quick thinking and teamwork, the puppy was rescued and is expected to make a full recovery!”
