A Fragile Life Saved by Love, Food, and the Compassion of a Kind-Hearted Man
There was no sign that the little puppy had a mother or any companions. It was all alone.
In March 2020, while visiting some stray animals, Goran stumbled upon a heartbreaking sight: a weak little puppy lying next to a tattered sneaker, surrounded by piles of trash.
The man gently picked up the puppy, gave it some food, and brought it to a veterinarian. After receiving the necessary medical care, Goran took the puppy home and gave it a name—Smesten. With love and kindness, Goran not only saved the puppy’s life but helped it transform into a beautiful, healthy, and happy dog.
Goran regularly brings food to abandoned animals on the streets. As time passed, he encountered more and more stray animals. He now cares for about 100 animals, both dogs and cats.
He shared: “I take care of the animals that no one else will. They have no food, no home. Their numbers keep growing. I care for animals because I love them—all of them, equally.”
It’s heartbreaking to see how easily humans can abandon their pets without a second thought.
Goran named the puppy Smesten.
He does this entirely out of goodwill, as a volunteer, with no profit involved. Goran usually goes out alone, but occasionally friends will join to lend a hand. It’s not an easy job, and it’s certainly not something that can be sustained long-term without genuine compassion. Buying food and paying for vet care is expensive and time-consuming. But thankfully, there are still people in the world willing to sacrifice for animals in need.
After Goran brought Smesten home, the puppy slowly began to recover and regain strength. A fragile life was saved by love, nourishment, and care from a kind human being.
Six months later, Smesten was unrecognizable!
The once-weak puppy had grown into a beautiful, friendly, and joyful dog—full of energy, healthy, and ready for any adventure with its beloved human.
Kindness, love, and compassion saved Smesten.
Life is often cruel to animals. Many pets are abused, abandoned, or neglected. It’s painful to witness how heartless people can be—dumping their pets by the roadside, tying them to trees, or worse… That’s why stories like Smesten’s are so important. They remind us that while cruelty exists, so does love—and sometimes, it can make all the difference.
