Puppy Dumped In Woods With His Things Still Believed Someone Would Notice Him

At just 8 months old, Hank should have been full of energy—running, playing, and discovering the world. Instead, when a Good Samaritan stumbled upon him deep in the woods, Hank wasn’t moving at all.

He was lying silently on a discarded dog bed, surrounded by his old toys and a sealed bag of food he couldn’t open. His stillness wasn’t from fear—it was from pain and exhaustion. His eyes seemed to plead for help.

A Painful Secret

The Good Samaritan immediately called the local animal shelter, and rescuers rushed to the scene. They feared Hank might react aggressively, but instead, he melted their hearts.
“He was nothing but love from the moment they got him,” said Rosa Fond, founder of Humans and Animals United. “Everybody says he’s the sweetest dog.”

At the vet, they finally understood why Hank hadn’t moved—his leg had been broken for more than two weeks. The poor pup had stayed on that bed because walking was simply too painful.

A Second Chance
Hank’s injury required major surgery, so Humans and Animals United stepped in to give him the medical care he desperately needed. He’s currently recovering at a veterinary hospital, being showered with cuddles and affection from the staff while he gains strength for his upcoming surgery.

Safe, Loved, and Waiting for Forever
Since his story was shared online, adoption requests have been pouring in. But for now, Hank’s focus is healing.
“He’s gonna have a little bit of a journey to go through before he’s fully adoptable,” Fond said. “But he’s safe now—and he’ll never, ever be hurt again.”
