Over 100 ‘Chiweenie’ Dogs Rescued From Auburn Home
In Auburn, Washington, a shocking discovery left animal rescuers overwhelmed but determined. More than 100 “Chiweenie” dogs — a Chihuahua-dachshund mix — were found crammed inside a single home, living in overcrowded and unsafe conditions.
Body camera footage from an Auburn Police Department officer showed dozens of small dogs roaming freely throughout the house, many of them frightened, hungry, and in desperate need of care. The sheer number of animals stunned authorities, who immediately launched a massive rescue effort.
With the help of local shelters and animal welfare groups, each of the dogs was safely removed from the home. They were then dispersed among several shelters in the region, where they received food, medical attention, and the comfort of clean, safe spaces.
While the rescue was challenging, the spirit of the dogs shone through. Despite the neglect they had endured, many wagged their tails and leaned into the gentle hands that carried them to safety.
Authorities have not yet released details about the owner, but the rescue has sparked calls for stronger oversight of large-scale pet ownership.
For now, though, the focus is on healing. The Chiweenies are receiving veterinary care, vaccinations, and socialization, preparing them for the chance at something they’ve likely never known before — a loving forever home.
