Dog Rescued After Being Found Tied Between Dumpsters With Severe Injuries
A pit bull mix named Spartacus has been rescued in Missouri after being discovered tied between two dumpsters with a leash so short he couldn’t lie down. A passerby found him while taking out her trash and immediately sought help.
Spartacus was covered in infected bite wounds, suggesting he may have been used as a bait dog in illegal dogfighting. Some of his worst injuries included torn skin around his jaw and swollen legs.
He was taken in by Stray Rescue of St. Louis, where vets are debriding dead skin and working with specialists on his recovery plan. Thankfully, his jaw and legs are not broken, and staff remain hopeful about his future.
Despite his suffering, Spartacus has shown affection to his carers, seeking kisses and comfort. Supporters from around the world are cheering him on, with rescuers confident he’ll find a loving home once healed.
Stray Rescue has warned the public about fake fundraising accounts exploiting Spartacus’s story and confirmed the case has been reported to police, though identifying the abusers remains difficult.
