A Touching Act of Loyalty on a Turkish Highway
In the chilly morning of December 21, on a highway in Van, eastern Turkey, a tiny puppy lay injured after being struck by a speeding vehicle. Amid the danger and noise, one figure stayed by her side — a fellow dog, her loyal companion.
As cars rushed past, the devoted dog placed his paws gently on the puppy’s head, refusing to leave. It was a silent plea for help — and someone listened.
Zümeyran Şimşekin, a member of Van’s Human Rights Association, witnessed the heartbreaking scene. Without hesitation, she picked up the injured pup and rushed her to a local vet.
Despite the initial fear, the veterinary team confirmed that the puppy is expected to recover. Her loyal friend can now breathe a sigh — or perhaps a joyful bark — of relief.
A moment of pain became a story of love, hope, and the bond that even words cannot express.
