A dog in Tennessee, USA, was cruelly abandoned by his owner simply because he was suspected of being “gay.” Fortunately, thanks to the power of Facebook, the poor pup has found a new loving home.
According to Examiners, on January 29, a man from Jackson, Tennessee, left the dog at the Rabies Animal Shelter, claiming that he saw the dog “cuddling and being affectionate with another male dog.”
In an interview with Huffington Post, the shelter confirmed the abandonment, stating that the owner believed the dog was “gay.” However, Psychology Today explained that such behavior among dogs is merely a form of dominance within the pack, and has nothing to do with sexual orientation.
Soon after, an online campaign was launched on Facebook to save the dog. The post quickly went viral, receiving thousands of shares and sympathetic comments. One user wrote: “It’s heartbreaking to see a loyal animal discarded just because of human ignorance.”
Thanks to social media attention, the story reached many animal lovers. A woman named Stephanie Fryns stepped forward and promised: “I will adopt this boy first thing in the morning.”
Happily, the next day, the Rabies Animal Shelter confirmed that the dog had officially been adopted, starting a new chapter of life filled with love and care.
