According to a news release from MSPCA-Angell, the female mixed-breed dog, believed to be around 2 years old with a medium-sized build, was discovered tied to a pole on Porter Street in Granby on the night of April 4.

The dog was found in poor physical condition, showing signs of injury and significant undernourishment, prompting immediate concern from both authorities and animal welfare advocates.

“Abandoning a dog in this condition is not just heartbreaking — it’s a criminal offense,” said an MSPCA representative.

Authorities are now investigating the case as one of animal cruelty and neglect, and are urging anyone who may have seen something suspicious in the area or who recognizes the dog to come forward. All tips can be provided anonymously to MSPCA Law Enforcement or the Granby Police Department.

The dog is currently being cared for by the MSPCA, receiving medical treatment and rehabilitation.

“She’s in good hands now, but we need accountability,” the MSPCA added.
