Injured and Alone, Dog Endures Storm and Scorching Sun Waiting for Help

Mack, an injured dog, was exactly where the mail carrier said he’d be — lying quietly in a grassy field beside the road.

Injured Dog Sits Through Thunderstorm And Hot Sun, Hoping For Someone To Care

“He sat through the morning thunderstorms and then lay in the direct sun until evening,” wrote Kristin Erwin, founder of The Streethearts Project in Texas, who shared Mack’s story in a touching video.

The mail carrier had seen Mack suffering but, with no animal control available in the area, turned to social media and asked for help. Kristin answered that call.

When she arrived, Mack was soaked from the rain. He looked up at her but didn’t try to move. His back legs were swollen and cut — so still that Kristin feared he might be paralyzed. Unsure and alone, she laid a towel beside him. Gently, Mack rested his head on it.

No one else stopped to help. Kristin knew she had to act. With care, she lifted him into a crate by herself. When Mack briefly stood up, it felt like a miracle — at least he wasn’t paralyzed.

At the vet, Mack was diagnosed with injuries to his right elbow and back left leg, but fortunately, no broken bones. Drained from pain and exhaustion, he curled up on the scale and fell asleep.

Mack is also battling heartworm, and though his wounds might suggest a car accident, vets believe he was more likely attacked by other dogs. Despite it all, his spirit remains gentle and trusting.

“He’s eating well, taking his medicine, and soaking up every bit of care,” said Kristin. “Right now, we’re focused on helping his legs heal — and we can’t wait to see him feeling better.”
