When three tiny puppies wandered onto the property of an oil company in Romania, they were simply exploring — curious, playful, and unaware of the danger that lay ahead. What looked like a shiny, dark surface to them was actually a thick pool of sticky tar. Within moments, their paws were glued to the ground. The more they struggled, the deeper they sank.
Soon, the puppies were completely trapped — their small bodies covered in the heavy, suffocating tar. Unable to move, they began to cry out in fear, their faint whimpers echoing across the industrial yard.
Luckily, nearby workers heard the desperate cries. When they arrived and saw the tiny black shapes barely moving, their hearts broke. The men quickly rushed to help, pulling the puppies free one by one from the sticky mess. Though the rescue itself didn’t take long, it was only the beginning of a much longer battle — because the puppies were still completely coated in tar, from their noses to their tails.
Realizing they needed expert help, the workers contacted local animal rescuers. Within hours, a team from Barking Mad Dog Rescue arrived at the nearest veterinary clinic, ready to do whatever it took to save the three little lives.
At the clinic, volunteers and veterinary assistants worked tirelessly. Mihai and Marina, two dedicated vet techs, spent hours gently cleaning the pups. The tar was so thick and stubborn that they had to use petrol to dissolve it before carefully washing the puppies in warm, soothing baths. The work went late into the evening — slow, delicate, and exhausting.
Throughout it all, the puppies remained calm, as if they somehow knew these kind humans were there to save them. Between washes, they were given small meals — they were so hungry that they gobbled up every bit of food with wagging tails and grateful eyes.
Finally, after several long sessions, the transformation was complete. The once unrecognizable, tar-covered pups were clean again — soft, shiny, and full of life.
They were soon given names: Jason, Jeremy, and Jasmine. Around 10 weeks old, they were playful, curious, and bursting with energy.
“The pups were very hungry and ate several small meals throughout the process,” said Jess, a volunteer from Barking Mad Dog Rescue. “They are beautiful and lively puppies, just how they should be.”
After a full health check, the vet confirmed that they were miraculously in good condition — no major injuries, just a lot of lost fur and exhaustion. In a few weeks, once they’re old enough, the three survivors will be ready to find their forever homes.
For now, Jason, Jeremy, and Jasmine are safe, warm, and loved — proof that even in the darkest, stickiest situations, kindness can pull you free.
