After being struck by a car on the streets of India, Diana the dog was left helpless and in agony for two long days. Immobilized by pain and serious injuries, she lay by the roadside with no one to help—until a kind local animal rescuer came to her aid and rushed her to a veterinary clinic in Goa.
Upon arrival, the clinic’s medical team found extensive trauma on the right side of her body. Her right eye had prolapsed, and she suffered from multiple deep wounds to her head and right front leg. Even worse, she was unable to support herself or stand, indicating possible internal or orthopedic damage.
Diana was immediately stabilized with IV fluids and pain management, but after two days of intensive care, she still couldn’t bear weight on her hind legs. Concerned, the team conducted a full set of X-rays, which revealed the full extent of her injuries: a fractured pelvis, two fractured hind legs, and a dislocated femoral head on her left side. The fact that Diana had survived such trauma was nothing short of extraordinary.
Her treatment plan became even more intensive. In addition to daily wound care and continued pain medication, she underwent two critical surgeries—one to close open wounds and another to remove her severely damaged eye.
Despite the immense pain and multiple procedures, Diana showed unwavering resilience. She never gave up. Day by day, she gained strength. Just four weeks later, she could stand proudly on all four paws.
Thanks to the dedication of her rescuers and veterinary team—and her own incredible will to live—Diana made a remarkable full recovery. Today, she is finally back home, safe, loved, and walking on her own once more.
