Florida Chef Rescues Kitten Found on Busy Highway
Chef Franco Blanco was driving along a busy interstate in Florida when he noticed a small black figure tumbling across the road. While most drivers swerved and continued on, Blanco immediately pulled over to investigate.
Stepping out onto the highway median, he discovered a tiny black kitten. Blanco carried the animal back to his car, later sharing a video where he described the rescue as “a miracle,” noting that the kitten did not appear to be injured.
How the kitten ended up on the highway remains unclear. He may have been hidden in a vehicle’s wheel well or abandoned. Regardless of the circumstances, the kitten was fortunate to be found by Blanco — who, together with his wife, runs Homeless Kitty Haven, a cat rescue in South Florida.
Blanco quickly transported the kitten to a veterinary clinic, where tests confirmed that he had no injuries. The couple named him Lucky Highway Miracles.
While most rescued cats from Homeless Kitty Haven are eventually placed in adoptive homes, Blanco and his wife decided this particular kitten would remain with them. “We decided we were going to keep him right away,” Blanco said.
In the weeks following his rescue, Lucky Highway Miracles has grown into an energetic and confident cat. Blanco noted that the kitten has adapted well and now accompanies them frequently.
What began as a small black speck on a busy highway has now become a permanent member of the Blanco household — a reminder, they say, of the importance of rescue and second chances.
