A clip showing panda caretakers in China cruelly treating the animals has become a hot topic on social media with a series of critical comments.
Recently, Yi Xi Lan shared on Weibo a clip recording the scene of some zoo staff repeatedly taking heavy actions against two animals at the Chengdu Giant Panda Research Center, Sichuan Province, China.
The clip, which is more than 2 minutes long, records young men continuously pulling and throwing animals, making many people angry.

According to The Sun , the space in the clip is home to four panda cubs named Meilan, Jilan, Yuanyue and Yuanman. When two of them were separated for a health check, the remaining two tried every way to be with their friends.
As a result, zoo staff struggled to control them. That was also the reason why they had to forcefully pull, push, or lift and then throw the two animals to the ground, the center’s representative explained.

Most of the online community did not support the boys’ actions. They were constantly criticized for their cruel treatment of bears. When posting the clip, Yi Xi Lan captioned it: “I can’t stand it.”
The research center immediately spoke out about the incident. They confirmed that the video had been cut from 50 minutes to just over 2 minutes (focusing on the moment when the staff mistreated the animals).
The center’s representative also admitted that the staff’s actions were too quick and forceful. They have apologized to the community, according to Chengdu Business Daily.
According to the center’s website, it was established in 1987 and is responsible for supporting research and conservation projects at the Chengdu Zoo. The center is currently home to 113 giant pandas.
