Dog Found With Muzzle Tightly Bound, Rescued After Enduring Excruciating Pain
The dog with a tightly bound snout was found in a field in Ba Tri District, Ben Tre Province. Previously, images of this “little friend” had brought many on social media to tears.
On the afternoon of July 22, when the search team was beginning to lose hope, a local resident called to report seeing the dog in a nearby field. The team rushed to the location. After several failed attempts to capture it, the young volunteers had to use food to lure the dog and were finally able to catch it that evening.
Currently, the dog is under veterinary care. After days of having its muzzle bound, the dog was in extremely weak condition, with severe necrosis around its mouth. At first, the veterinarian couldn’t even remove the duct tape tightly wrapped around its snout. The dog had to be put on an IV drip as it could not eat.
After many hours of emergency care, at 3:00 a.m. on July 23, the poor dog was finally freed from the tape around its muzzle.
The internet rejoiced when news broke that the dog had been rescued.
The dog was found after several days without food, its snout heavily necrotized.
As soon as the news was posted to Facebook, the post received 20,000 likes and over 3,000 shares from the online community.
Many young people shared that they had been anxiously following the search and were deeply worried about the dog’s life. Animal protection fanpages had also been calling for help in recent days. A group of veterinarians from Ho Chi Minh City even rushed to Ben Tre to assist.
By nearly 2:00 a.m., the vets were still administering fluids to revive the dog.
Through investigation, it was discovered that Mr. Nguyễn Điền — a photographer from Ben Tre — was the first person to spot the dog and took an active role in the search.
On July 21, while taking photos for a client at Viet Sinh Urban Area (Ba Tri District, Ben Tre), Mr. Điền saw the dog with its snout tightly bound by tape. He quickly snapped some photos, but the dog ran off when he approached.
Upon returning home, he posted the photos on Facebook. His post quickly went viral, drawing countless emotional reactions. Most commenters expressed sorrow and outrage at whoever had mistreated the poor animal.
The first post about the dog caused widespread anger online.
“At first, the search was extremely difficult because there was no clue where the dog might be,” Mr. Điền shared. “There was also a rescue group from Ho Chi Minh City who came to support us, but after an entire day, we still couldn’t find it. Many people reported sightings, but we always arrived too late.”
At noon on July 22, after what seemed like hopeless effort, luck finally smiled upon the team — they correctly identified the location and carried out the capture.
The dog was found about 5 kilometers from Mr. Điền’s home, in a small rural village. The capture was challenging due to thick vegetation and surrounding rice fields.
Mr. Điền decided to entrust the “little friend” to an animal rescue group from Ho Chi Minh City that had joined him in the search. The dog is expected to be transported to the city for continued treatment the next day.
The internet celebrated the dog’s rescue from cruel conditions.
