Heartbreaking: Dog goes on hunger strike, sitting silently on the rubble waiting for its owner

Following a landslide in Xinma, Mao County, Sichuan Province (China), rescue workers reported the presence of a dog in the affected area.

In a video released by CGTN, a rescuer was seen calling to a white dog sitting in the rubble, but the animal showed no sign of leaving. Reports indicated that the dog had not eaten or drunk anything while remaining at the site.

Search equipment did not detect any human survivors in the area. It is unclear whether the dog belonged to a local household, but many observers believe the location where it stayed could have been the site of its owner’s home.

The case drew attention on Chinese social media. Several users on Weibo expressed willingness to adopt the dog, while others highlighted the need to treat animals with more compassion and protection.

Rescue workers later removed the dog from the landslide zone for safety.
