He Was Tortured. He Was Severely Abused — But Love Is Giving Him Life Again

Hercules the Bait Dog: Found Broken, But Fighting to Survive in Las Vegas

Near the bright lights of the Las Vegas Strip, a horrifying discovery was made in an industrial area—a severely injured dog, bloody and beaten, left crippled in an abandoned car seat.

Rescuers from Vegas Pet Rescue Project rushed to the scene and immediately brought him to Warm Hearts Pet Hospital, where his life now hangs in the balance.

“He was starving, tortured, and severely abused. His face was so swollen he couldn’t open his eyes. His ears were nearly chewed off,” said Dr. Inna Goncharov, the hospital’s owner.

The dog, an albino pit bull, is believed to have been used as a bait dog—a victim of illegal dog fighting. His body is riddled with infections, and tragically, he’s deaf.

“He couldn’t even hear who was attacking him… or understand why,” said Tina Hayes from the rescue group.

X-rays revealed a metal screw lodged in his stomach, and he wore a collar typically used to chain bait dogs in place. Malnourished and dehydrated, this dog has likely suffered months, if not years, of cruelty—only to be discarded like trash when he could no longer serve their purpose.

The team named him Hercules, a symbol of strength for a soul that has endured unthinkable pain.

Now, Hercules is safe, slowly recovering, and surrounded by compassion for the first time in his life. His journey to healing will be long, but his spirit is still intact.

Hercules can’t hear your words—but he can feel your love.
