Tuas, Singapore — When rescuers found this dog, he was in an absolutely heartbreaking condition. It was immediately clear that he needed surgery, but there was one big problem — the rescue group didn’t have enough funds to pay for it.
What happened next, after Da Bai’s story was shared online, can only be described as a small miracle.
Da Bai, a white street dog, was one of several strays regularly fed by kindhearted residents in Tuas, who had affectionately given him his name. But when they came to check on him at the beginning of August, they were horrified by what they saw.
The once-cheerful dog was now covered in severe injuries, unable to eat or drink properly. His face was badly deformed, and it was clear he was in terrible pain.
Worried for his life, the residents immediately contacted the local animal welfare organization Causes for Animals for help.
The rescue team rushed to the container yard where Da Bai had been living since 2019 — the same place where he’d reportedly been abandoned years ago.
At the clinic, veterinarians discovered that Da Bai had suffered multiple fractures to his face, likely caused by a hit-and-run accident.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, his blood tests showed he had dangerously low platelet levels, making surgery too risky for now.
According to an update from Causes for Animals on Instagram, Da Bai will first need several blood transfusions to stabilize his condition before doctors can operate to repair his facial injuries.
Thankfully, after the story spread on social media, kind strangers from across Singapore and beyond began donating to help cover his medical costs — proving once again that compassion can turn despair into hope.
