Broken Shelter Dog Shows No Will To Live — Until Love Awakens Her Spirit

Snoots’ Second Chance at Love

When little Snoots arrived at Austin Pets Alive! (APA!), he was barely hanging on. The frail senior pup was unresponsive, and for a heartbreaking moment, the staff feared they had been too late.

But even in the face of uncertainty, the team refused to give up on him. They gently fed him dinner, wrapped him in warmth, gave him the very best medical care — and, most importantly, showered him with love. That night, Snoots was tucked into a kennel for what many thought might be his final rest.

The very next morning, a miracle happened.

When the vets arrived, Snoots was at his kennel door — bright-eyed, tail gently wagging, looking like a dog reborn. After brushing so close to death, Snoots had found a reason to fight: love.

At 12 years old and weighing just 5 pounds, Snoots is fragile, but his spirit is stronger than ever. No one knows how much time he has left, but what matters is that every single day from now on will be filled with comfort, care, and compassion.

“He’s such a sweetie pie,” said Luis Sanchez, APA!’s director of communications. “All he really wants is to be held. He doesn’t need much. Still, APA! is prepared to give him the world for as long as he’s in it.”

Now, Snoots is living in a loving hospice foster home, where he spends his golden days being cuddled, doted on, and adored like he always deserved. For a dog who once stood at death’s door, this chapter of his life is nothing short of a miracle.

Snoots may not have forever, but thanks to love, he has today — and that’s everything.
