Violet, a goldendoodle, has endured unimaginable hardship. When her former owner brought her to Sky Sanctuary Rescue, she was buried under several years’ worth of painfully matted fur.
As the rescue team carefully shaved away the thick layers, they were heartbroken by what they saw beneath — a frail, skeletal body that revealed years of neglect and suffering.
“She is so depleted — as a full-sized goldendoodle, she weighs just 12 pounds,” Sky Sanctuary Rescue wrote on Instagram.
Violet needed emergency, round-the-clock care. She received a blood transfusion and a feeding tube to deliver the nutrients her body was too weak to take in on its own. Slowly, her caretakers began to see tiny sparks of life return.
“We witnessed the life come back into her body,” the rescue team shared.
Given how severe her condition was, no one knew if Violet would survive — let alone thrive. But against all odds, she did. Within days, she took her first steps.
Just 11 days later, she went on her very first walk.
A few days after that, she discovered her first toy — and her tail began to wag again.
“As she slowly regains her strength, her sweet personality is starting to shine,” the rescue wrote.
In the weeks since her rescue, Violet has gained seven pounds — and continues to grow stronger every single day. Her story, shared online, has touched thousands of hearts around the world.
“My favorite thing about her is that she didn’t let life break her spirit,” one commenter wrote.
Violet still has a long road to full recovery. But for the first time, she’s safe — surrounded by love, comfort, and care.
“We are so proud, amazed, and grateful to have helped her live,” Sky Sanctuary Rescue wrote.
