Sammie’s story is heartbreaking. He wasn’t just abandoned — he was cruelly spray-painted, shot in the head, and dragged behind a car. The injuries he suffered were severe, both physically and emotionally.

But in the midst of his pain, Sammie found something extraordinary: a friend.

Simon, another rescued dog, met Sammie at the vet. Though the two had been saved weeks apart, Simon was instantly drawn to the injured pup.

“He’s incredibly protective over him,” said Jackie O’Sullivan, co-founder of Rescue Dogs Rock NYC. “He keeps checking in on Sammie, as if making sure he knows he’s not alone anymore.”

Sammie still has a long journey ahead, but he’s surrounded by people — and a fellow pup — who truly care. Thanks to rescue efforts, compassionate caregivers, and the bond of friendship, Sammie now has hope.
