Images of a Cat Brutally Abused Spark Outrage and Sympathy Online
Photos of a cat with blood streaming from its eyes and mouth, crying out in pain, have gone viral on Facebook just hours after being posted—triggering a wave of sympathy and outrage, especially among animal lovers. The incident reportedly occurred about a week ago in Taichung City, Taiwan.
The poor cat was discovered lying on a street in Taichung on the afternoon of August 19 in critical condition: its nose had been cut and was bleeding heavily, and blood soaked its eyes, which could no longer close properly.
A young man who found the injured cat claimed that the perpetrators were a group of foreign labor workers. After torturing the cat, they threw it out of their residence. Thanks to the intervention of this kind individual, the cat was rushed to a veterinary clinic for urgent treatment.
Lin Liang, director of the Taichung City Animal Protection Center, described the abuse as particularly severe. Under Taiwan’s Animal Protection Act, offenders can face up to one year in prison and fines ranging from NT$100,000 to NT$10 million (approximately 70 million to 7 billion VND). Authorities are currently working to identify and locate the individuals involved. In addition to legal penalties, the foreign workers will also be deported from Taiwan.
The cat is now under veterinary care, and updates on its condition have continued to draw strong emotional reactions from the public.
