A Soldier’s Love: Man Carries His Dog Through Devastating Floods in Thailand
People around the world have been deeply moved by the incredible act of kindness of a Thai man, Theerachot Homjom. During the severe flooding caused by Tropical Storm Sinlaku, Theerachot chose not to save his belongings but instead carried his beloved dog on his back to safety.
The heavy rains had caused the Kuang River to overflow, submerging his home in Chiang Rai province. While many rushed to protect their possessions, Theerachot knew that nothing was more precious than his faithful companion.
“The flood can destroy my house, but it cannot take away this adorable puppy,” he said.
Theerachot, a soldier, had already been helping flood victims in 44 regions of Thailand for more than two weeks, making him a true hero. But this personal act of devotion—refusing to leave his dog behind—captured hearts everywhere.
Although the frightened dog was anxious amidst the chaos, his loving owner reassured him every step of the way. In a world where so many pets are abandoned in hard times, Theerachot’s loyalty stood out as a shining example of love and responsibility.
A video of the rescue quickly went viral on YouTube, drawing countless supportive comments from viewers around the globe.
According to the Chiang Rai Times, the disaster claimed at least two lives and destroyed hundreds of homes. But thanks to one man’s devotion, at least one dog’s life was saved—and the world was reminded of the unbreakable bond between humans and their animals.
