GRAND RAPIDS, MI — A 10-month-old deaf pit bull mix named Stinger learned the hard way that bees don’t take kindly to intruders.
The young dog was swarmed and stung by ground-dwelling bees in West Michigan, triggering a severe allergic reaction. After being given antibiotics, his condition worsened. Instead of seeking further help, his owners abandoned him at a local veterinary clinic.
Thankfully, Stinger was taken in by LuvnPupz rescue, whose founder, Carri Shipala, shared his story on Facebook.
Stinger underwent a biopsy on September 21, which thankfully came back negative. However, vets discovered he was suffering from sarcoptic mange — a painful and highly contagious skin disease caused by mites burrowing into the skin, leading to severe itching and discomfort.
Now under the care of the rescue team, Stinger is receiving the treatment and love he needs to recover.
