Injured Dog Rescued from Killeen Home During Late-Night Operation
On the night of Saturday, July 5, Killeen police and animal services officers rescued a severely injured dog named Dubz from a residence on the 1500 block of Gowan Drive. The rescue was part of a coordinated effort that also involved the arrest of the dog’s owner and an urgent response from veterinary professionals.
According to the Killeen Police Department, officers were dispatched around 10:05 p.m. after receiving reports about a dog in need of emergency care. Upon arrival, they arrested a male suspect at the home on unrelated active warrants. With support from Killeen Animal Services, officers then removed Dubz from the property and rushed him to a veterinary facility for immediate treatment.
Police Commander Lourence stated that officers were emotionally affected by the dog’s condition and highlighted the careful planning behind the operation. “This course of action took time to execute to ensure the safety of everyone involved, including Dubz,” Lourence said. “We are grateful he is now receiving the care he needs.”
Initially given a poor prognosis, Dubz was later transferred to the Veterinary Emergency Group in Austin, where he is undergoing a blood transfusion and receiving intensive care. His treatment is being funded by Jack Jack’s Pack, a nonprofit rescue organization, which is currently raising donations to cover more than $6,000 in medical expenses.
