It took several months before a Chihuahua mix finally caught the attention of Hope For Paws, a nonprofit animal rescue organization based in Beverly Hills, California. The group received a tip via their emergency hotline: a small dog had been abandoned and living alone on the streets of Compton for at least five months.
Eldad Hagar, one of the founders of Hope For Paws, and his colleague Loreta Frankonyte went out to investigate. They discovered the poor dog curled up in an old shoebox left outside someone’s front door. The homeowner, who had been feeding the dog daily, had likely kept her alive through his quiet acts of kindness.
When Eldad and Loreta gently looped a leash around the dog’s neck and lifted her up, they were met with a heartbreaking discovery. The little dog—later named Princess—was missing a front leg and could barely walk.
They wrapped Princess in a warm towel and transported her to a veterinary clinic. There, she was bathed, fed, and given a thorough medical examination. Sadly, losing a leg wasn’t her only hardship—Princess was also suffering from anemia, a condition that left her weak and lethargic.
She stayed at the clinic for several weeks under close observation until she had gained enough strength to get up and move on her own.
Not long after, Princess began happily running around on her three legs. Just four months later, Hope For Paws shared a joyful update: Princess had found her forever home—a loving family ready to give her the care and happiness she had always deserved.
