Dog Shot with Two Arrows in China
Animal rights activists have just rescued a dog that was shot with two arrows piercing through its body. A dog thief had fired the arrows to capture it for sale.
Qiao Wei discovered the dog in Chengdu, China, and took it to a hospital. Since then, Wei has been praised as a “hero” for saving the dog.
Photos shared by Wei show the arrows lodged across the dog’s body, sparking concern from animal advocates around the world.
Rose Gardiner wrote on Facebook: “I’m so glad it was rescued, but I feel heartbroken knowing millions of other dogs are still suffering.”
Charlotte Roberts posted: “Another disturbing story about dogs, but thankfully this one had a beautiful, hopeful ending.”
Timely Medical Treatment Saved the Dog’s Life
The photos were shared by the group Animal Protection Guards on Facebook. They wrote: “The dog was shot in the shoulder and neck by a thief. It was rescued by the Qimin Small Animal Protection Group.
“Qiao Wei, the hero who rescued the dog, is on the way to the hospital with the poor animal. Chinese animal lovers were outraged by these images. In the past 12 hours, thousands of people have asked us about the dog.”
They also added: “The dog meat trade is a destabilizing industry in society. It damages reputations and violates basic moral values. It causes suffering for millions of dogs and distress for tens of millions of animal lovers in China.
“China can never be seen as a global leader as long as this brutal trade remains legal.”
