On April 17th, a deeply heartbreaking scene unfolded on Zhongxing Road in Cam Li District, Cù Giang area, Quzhou City, Zhejiang Province, China. A beautiful brown dog was tragically struck and killed by a car while crossing the road.
Yet what truly broke people’s hearts was what happened next — a white-furred dog stood by the lifeless body of its friend, desperately nudging it, as if pleading for it to wake up, crying out in silent sorrow.
Despite the heavy rain and the busy traffic, the loyal white dog refused to leave its friend’s side — not even for a moment. For over half an hour, it let out heart-wrenching howls, trying every way it could to “wake up” its unmoving companion.
Only when the brown dog’s owner rushed to the scene, picked up the lifeless body in tears, and walked away, did the white dog finally move — but only to follow closely behind, unwilling to leave its friend even in death.
The image of the grieving, loyal dog chasing after its friend stirred deep emotion among onlookers and internet users alike:
“Poor thing! Losing its best friend must’ve shattered its heart.”
“Don’t ever say animals don’t have emotions.”
“I cried watching this — it’s beyond moving.”
“Sometimes animals are more loyal than people.”
“Whoever caused the accident should be held accountable — how can someone be so heartless and just drive away?”
“Why didn’t anyone step up to help these poor animals?”
This moment, captured in the pouring rain, is a painful reminder of the love and loyalty that animals hold — bonds that are often deeper and more genuine than words can ever describe.
