All Alone: French Bulldog Abandoned in Crate With Back Wound, Left With No One to Return

When Angela Adan pulled into a parking lot one day, her heart sank. Sitting alone in the middle of the pavement was an abandoned crate. Inside, a little French bulldog sat quietly, waiting for someone who would never return.

The pup, later named Goober, had a painful wound on his back. Looking around, Adan realized it was clear: someone had shoved him into the crate and left him behind.

“You could tell that somebody just shoved him in there and left quickly,” Adan said in a video for The Dodo.

Luckily for Goober, Adan is an experienced dog rescuer and founder of Deserving Dogs. She grabbed a leash, opened the crate, and gently coaxed the frightened pup out. Without hesitation, Goober slipped into the leash and allowed himself to be scooped up — as if he already knew she was there to help.

Adan rushed him straight to the vet, where doctors diagnosed his wound as a severe hotspot that had spiraled out of control. Whoever abandoned him had managed to avoid the parking lot’s cameras, but ultimately, it didn’t matter anymore. Goober was finally safe.

“I brought him home, and his healing process began,” Adan shared. “It took months, but finally he started to heal.”

As his skin mended and his fur grew back, Goober’s spirit began to shine through as well. Adan couldn’t understand how anyone could abandon such a gentle, loving soul. All he wanted was care and affection — and at last, he got both.

In time, Goober was adopted into a wonderful family who promised to give him everything he had been missing.

“He got adopted into a really loving family, and he can go to the vet anytime he needs to,” Adan said. “He’s on a special diet now. He’s living a happy, loving life for the rest of his life.”

Once left behind in a crate, Goober now spends his days surrounded by warmth, safety, and love — exactly what he deserved all along.
