Recently, a young man in China sparked outrage online after livestreaming the brutal killing of a puppy on social media.
The incident reportedly began on November 19, when a group of animal lovers rescued stray dogs on the street, unintentionally causing a major traffic jam. Stuck in the gridlock, the man was unable to see his dying relative one last time. Furious, he decided to take revenge by abusing a puppy and broadcasting the cruelty online.
One day before the livestream on January 17, he had already posted several photos showing himself attempting to hang a puppy. Later, under the account name “I have a puppy here” on Weibo, he streamed horrifying footage of the dog: tied up, gagged, crying in pain as it was hanged and slashed with a knife.
The disturbing images spread rapidly, drawing massive outrage from netizens who condemned the act as cruel, inhumane, and the behavior of someone mentally unstable.
Weibo moderators quickly removed the video, but the man reposted it multiple times. Police in China are currently investigating to identify the perpetrator.
