Paul Skinner witnessed a truly heartbreaking scene while cycling along a road in Midville, Lincolnshire, England. At first, he thought it was just a poor abandoned dog, as the animal looked dirty and wore no collar. But as he came closer, he was shocked to find the distressed dog crying beside a large plastic bag containing the lifeless bodies of four newborn puppies that had not even opened their eyes.
Paul immediately called the police and contacted local animal welfare authorities for help. The dog was taken to a rescue center, where staff discovered a microchip on her. This allowed them to quickly identify her as a three-year-old Spaniel. She was given a new name – Carly.
Veterinarians at the center confirmed that the four puppies were Carly’s own, born only a few hours before they died. Tragically, it is believed they might have still been alive when abandoned but could not survive either due to premature birth or the freezing weather conditions.
Now, Carly is recovering well under the care of Fen Bank Greyhound Sanctuary, where she is receiving the love and attention she desperately needs. Meanwhile, local authorities have launched an investigation to track down Carly’s former owner and bring them to justice.
