The Deformed Stray Dog Abandoned for Years – And the Ending That Made Everyone Cry
In La Paz, Bolivia, people had grown used to the sight of a stray dog with an enormous, tangled, pitch-black coat that weighed him down and completely hid his body. That was Choco, a poor dog who had been abandoned and survived only by scavenging scraps of food thrown on the streets.
Because of his strange appearance, many compared Choco to “Cousin Itt” from The Addams Family. But behind that messy look was a heart quietly longing for love.
12 years of life – 12 years of abandonment
According to the Bolivian Animal Protection Organization, Choco was left behind when his former owners moved away. For years, he survived thanks to leftovers from kind locals, but no one dared get close enough to free him from the 2-kilogram coat of matted fur that weighed him down with every step.
A miracle appears
Everything changed when singer Monica Ergueta Romero shared photos of Choco online, calling for help. Just two days later, a kindhearted person adopted him and immediately gave him a bath and a long-overdue haircut.
The moment the heavy coat fell away, it was as if Choco had been reborn. Now, the once frail old dog is healthier, calmer, and even joyful.
After so many lonely years, Choco has finally found what he always longed for — a loving home and a family of his own.
