Drivers Spot Tiny Face Peeking From Under Highway — And Can’t Believe What’s Hiding There

From Highway Overpass to Loving Home: Remi’s Rescue Story

It was an ordinary August day in Missouri when the Stray Rescue of St. Louis (SRSL) team received a call about something unusual — a fluffy figure spotted near a major roadway.

With traffic roaring overhead on a busy interstate, the rescue team arrived at the scene and scanned the area. Then they saw him — a tiny, blonde face peeking out from the shadows beneath a highway overpass.

“A scared little puppy hiding under a highway overpass!” SRSL later wrote on Facebook.

The pup lay motionless in a small alcove along the road’s shoulder. Cars thundered by just feet away, but he didn’t move. There was no food, no water, and no sign of any human nearby. His chin rested on the concrete, his eyes quietly begging for help.

No one knew how long he had been there or how he had ended up alone, but the SRSL team knew one thing for certain — they would not leave without him.

Moving slowly and gently, they managed to slip a leash over his head and coax him out of his hiding place. Within minutes, the frightened pup was safe inside their vehicle, headed toward a new chapter in life.

Back at SRSL headquarters, he was showered with affection and given a thorough medical check. Miraculously, the dog — estimated to be a 3-year-old Great Pyrenees mix — was in relatively good health and quickly cleared for foster care.

That’s when George and Vicki Dunn stepped in.

“We lovingly call him Remi,” George shared in a Facebook comment. “He is a sweet boy that has popped out of his shell since coming home with us. He is so playful already, and we’re thrilled to welcome him into our family.”

In just a short time, Remi’s personality began to shine. Once timid and cautious, he now greets each day with wagging enthusiasm. He plays, explores, and soaks up the love and comfort of his foster home.

Soon, Remi will be neutered — the final step before officially joining his forever family. His adopter, Ellen Pendry, can hardly wait.

“He is already so, so loved!” she wrote.

From surviving alone under a highway overpass to being embraced by a family eager to give him a lifetime of love, Remi’s journey is proof that a single act of kindness can change everything. And for this once-forgotten pup, the best days are only just beginning.
