Inside A Sealed Box, A Helpless Life Waited — Until A Nose Gave It Away

Two Tiny Noses, Two Tiny Miracles

When Suzette Hall drove up to a shelter in Los Angeles last week, she was focused on rescuing just one stray dog — a mission she’d done countless times before on the very street where so many dogs are left behind.

But this day would be different.

After successfully securing the dog she came for, Suzette was about to walk into the shelter when something stopped her in her tracks — a person approaching with two cardboard boxes, each tightly taped shut, with only small holes poked in the sides.

And then… a tiny white nose pushed through one of the holes.

Inside were two frightened puppies, squirming gently in the darkness, completely unaware that their lives were about to change forever.

“They were just popping their little faces up and noses out of the holes,” Suzette recalled.

The pups were being surrendered — likely by someone unable to care for them — and the shelter they were taken to was already overcrowded. But fate intervened. Suzette was in the right place at exactly the right time.

Instead of leaving them behind, she convinced the person to surrender the puppies directly to her.

“It was honestly a little miracle that I was there,” she said.
“They had taken them to the wrong shelter.”

Suzette rushed the pair — a boy and a girl — to her trusted vet for checkups and a good dose of love. She named them Eve and Forrest.

At first, they were confused and overwhelmed, but it didn’t take long for them to feel safe. Warm beds. Full bellies. Gentle hands. Cuddles. And, most importantly, a second chance.

Now living in loving foster homes, Eve and Forrest are blossoming into playful, sweet little souls, soaking up all the affection they missed in their first weeks of life.

They’re not quite home yet — but they’re well on their way.

“They’re little miracle babies,” Suzette says,
“and they are safe now.”
