Dance Tips:
1.
Music Choice: It should be about the two of you, your tastes and
wedding style or theme.
2.
Reception Format: Wood dance floors are more forgiving on the body
and joints; cement is very difficult to dance on. The size of the floor
should be large enough to accommodate everyone who wants to dance, but
not so large that it dwarfs the room and gives the feeling that no one
wants to dance. Again, it just depends on your overall wishes.
3.
DJ or Band: This depends on your preferences and budget. Ask to
visit another wedding or venue to see them in action.
4.
Studio Availability: Coordinating everyone’s schedules, especially
pre-wedding can be a challenge. Make sure the studio is available when
you are. Step-N-Out Dance Studio, for instance, is open 7 days a week.
5.
No Contracts: With dance studios you do not want to be committed to
spending money on lessons you may never use.
6.
Instructor Quality: He or she should be able to teach you to slow
dance within 3-4 lessons including a walking on and off of the dance
floor. An excellent instructor or coach can guide your dancing to be
NATURAL and not mechanical looking.
7.
Wedding Day Schedule: When you choose to do your first dance, the
father/daughter dance or the mother/son dance is ultimately up to you.
Remember the day is about the two of you!
8.
Time: Learning something complicated requires you to start early to
develop muscle memory. Learning to slow dance will not take very long
and you can usually start within the two months prior to your wedding.
It’s best to have your last lesson close to the wedding, so that
everything is fresh and comfortable, thus freeing you up to enjoy your
special moment.
9.
Shoes and the Dress: Make sure you are used to your wedding shoes;
wear them or dance in them, even if a little at a time. You will be
wearing them all day on your wedding day. Be aware of dress length while
walking or dancing. If you have a long train, double check that is
bustles for the reception. And for guys be careful if you are wearing
rentals; they tend to be slippery on certain surfaces.
10.
Budget: Slow dancing is something you will use again and again
throughout your lives together. |
