Nia
I accidentally stumbled onto Nia a few years back and it was the most intense and beautiful thing I've ever seen. Watching the class participants' dance as if no one was watching, their bodies were drenched with sweat and their faces wore this grin from ear to ear. I was thinking, "Wow, what is going on here?!?!"
Week later, I came into the same Nia class early; same thing, huge beautiful smiles on everyone's faces, I was like, "I got to take this class." Few weeks later, I took the class and I found myself grinning ear to ear.
Two years later, I earned my Nia White Belt and decided to become a Certified Instructor in February 2009. I've been a Yoga practitioner for 16 years, Tai Chi/Qigong practitioner for 5 years, a lover of dance all my life. So, I was overjoyed at the fact that Nia has incorporated these incredible techniques into the Art of Moving known as Nia.

Dance as a way of life.

Dance has been a passion since I was 16 years old. I remember attending a party in Hungary at that age and running away when everyone started to dance. I had no idea what to do with myself! After that party, I was inspired to attend a dance school and began taking lessons. I started training in Hungary and before long opportunities appeared, doors opened one after another. I trained with master dancers, Hungarian, Italian, German, Russian, American, Norwegian... These teachers saw hidden talent in me, more than I could see in myself, and for this I am grateful. My teachers also saw how hard I was willing to work to become a better and better dancer. I participated in Hungarian championships and had the honor of being my country’s dance champion 13 times.  I stopped competing professionally in order to dedicate myself to teaching. I discovered I could help and inspire people to not only become better dancers, but better people.  Dance can be a powerful tool for people to discover and express different parts of themselves. It helps you develop greater rhythm, balance, harmony, respect and courtesy for one’s partner, and especially confidence. Dance can be a way of life.  Ballroom dance not only offers you opportunities to develop and enhance your skills as a dancer, but also as a dancer partner, and even more broadly makes you a better listener, more respectful, flexible, cooperative.
